Spiritual Exploration Group (SEG)

  • 535 Durham Road Newtown, PA, 18940 United States (map)

Last year we gathered to name our hopes for deepening our relationship with Gaia. Some intentions took root; others were disrupted, quite literally, when a Hickory tree reminded us who is actually in charge of the Social Hall. This year, we return with humility, experience, and unfinished business.

  • Looking ahead, do you feel led to nurture, bring into being, or change anything in your relationship with the natural world this year? Either personally or as a Meeting?

  • Discernment of limits and leadings: Which of these hopes feel genuinely possible for us now, given our energy, resources, and condition as a community?

  • Questioning our need to dominate: What is it in us, individually and collectively, that seeks control over Nature (and each other) rather than a harmonious symbiotic relationship? Where have we absorbed the belief that the Earth is something to be mastered rather than listened to?

  • Truth-telling: Is dominion over Nature actually possible, or is it an illusion that distances us from right relationship, responsibility, and care?

This will be a hybrid event - either in-person in the Social Hall, or on Zoom to discuss this topic.

The Spiritual Exploration Group meets at 8:30 on the third Sunday in the Social Hall before Meeting for Worship.

SEG provides an opportunity for everyone to share their thoughts and feelings on a variety of spiritually related topics.  I has the added benefit that we can hear each other's ideas outside the Silence of Meeting.
