Doylestown, State & Main Streets
Join the vigil to shine a light on the inhumane treatment of migrants and refugees in human detention camps.
A number of local organizations are arranging an international candlelight vigil to shine a light on the inhumane treatment of migrants and refugees in human detention camps. Please join us in Doylestown this Friday, July 12, 2019 from 8-9 p.m. at State and Main Streets.
Doylestown joins hundreds of national and local sponsors as part of Lights for Liberty: A Nationwide Vigil to End Human Detention Camps 🗽🕯☮️
On Friday, July 12th, 2019 advocates, activists and impacted persons from across the Bucks County area will gather in the county seat, Doylestown, to protest the inhumane conditions faced by refugees in human detention camps. This is part of a nationwide demonstration, where participants all across the country are gathering at detention camps, in the streets, town centers and in their own front yards to light candles in vigil for all those held in US detention camps to bring light to the darkness of the Trump administration's horrific policies.
The vigil will include several short powerful statements by a diverse group of immigrants and immigrant rights activists. A pop up Rise Up Resistance Chorus will lead the crowd in several freedom songs. And a group of children will read the names of those children who have died in the detention camps. Then together we will all light our candles from those of the children, passing the light throughout the crowd as we close in singing together.
